The new Porsche 911 GT2 RS will arrive in September 2010 with capability of a top speed of 330km/h and limited run of 500 units. This monster delivers the quickest time for a 911 around the fabled 21km Nurburgring circuit within 7min 18secs.
This GT2 RS claimed of taking 3.5 secs for 0-100km/h which is 1 sec faster than GT2. The car comes with carbon-fiber air intakes and vents, lightweight alloy wheels and composite ceramic brakes. Overall, the GT2 weight at 1370kg after weight loss of 70kg from the light-weight parts.
The RS is powered by a direct-injection, twin-turbocharged flat six-cylinder engine that produces 456kW of power. That's a 66kW increase compared with the old GT2, yet the RS also boasts five per cent better consumption and emissions – 11.9L/100km and 284g/km respectively.
Revised front and rear lip spoilers plus wider tyres between the RS's flared wheel-arches are designed to improve cornering stability. The RS also comes with adaptive dampers and a switchable stability control system.
The two-tone cabin features the use of red alcantara for the roof-lining, carbon fiber-reinforced plastic bucket seats, steering wheel and gearshift and handbrake levers. A roll-cage is also available.
According to my source, the 911 GT2 RS will make its public debut at the Moscow motor show in this August 2010.
