How to Unlock and Jailbreak iPhone 2G on iPhone OS 3.1.3 in Windows

iPhone 2G.jpg

Recently, I have worked and tested on upgrading the iPhone 2G from OS 3.0 to 3.1.3 that is locked to AT&T. I followed the instructions from iClarified by using RedSn0w to unlock and jailbreak the iPhone 2G. Somehow, I found there is a bit unclear on the instruction steps that mislead over to an error of “Unable to recognize specified IPSW” for me.

Obviously, I was panic at that moment that the phone almost turns to be brick as I can’t activate the phone and it is locked to AT&T as well.

But no worries now, it is fixed. All you need is to upgrade to OS 3.1.3 and run RedSn0w with OS 3.1.2 Firmware in order to unlock and jailbreak it. Please note, only applied to iPhone 2G!

First, Download the following files and place them in the Pwnage folder you just created:

- RedSn0w
- BL 3.9
- BL 4.6
- 3.1.3 (2G): iPhone1,1_3.1.3_7E18_Restore.ipsw
- 3.1.2 (2G): iPhone1,1_3.1.2_7D11_Restore.ipsw

Second, connect your iPhone 2G to computer and launch iTunes. Select your iPhone from the list of devices on the left. Now hold down shift and click the Restore button. Navigate to the Pwnage folder on your desktop and select the firmware ipsw. Click the Open button to continue.

Third, once iTunes has finished updating your iPhone to the desired firmware you may launch redsnw0w.exe from the Pwnage folder on your desktop.

Fourth, once RedSn0w opens click on the Browse button and select the OS 3.1.2 firmware. After that, it will show “IPSW successfully identified”. If you have selected the OS 3.1.3, it will show the above error “Unable to recognize specified IPSW”. So make sure, you select 3.1.2 when unlock and jailbreak.

Fifth, from this window you can select “Install Cydia” and “Unlock”. If you have already pwned your device selects the “Already pwned” option. Then press Next button.

Last before complete, you need to specify the location of the 3.9 Bootloader and 4.6 Bootloader, press Next to continue. It is necessary to unlock the iPhone 2G. Now, plug the iPhone into the computer and make sure it’s OFF then click the Next button. RedSn0w will now guide you through the steps to get into DFU mode to upload the new RAM Disk and Kernel.

Pudu Jail 1895 - 2010 - Demolish the wall of Pudu Jail, KL

Yesterday (Monday, June 21, 2010), the Bulldozer starts demolishes a section of the wall of Pudu Jail in Kuala Lumpur. A controversial plan to tear down part of a 115-year-old jail for commercial development in the Malaysian capital has drawn fierce criticism from heritage enthusiasts. During World War II Japanese occupation forces used the jail to hold Allied prisoners-of-war, many of whom were tortured and executed there.

As usual for the local authority without sense of preserving the heritage building, the wall is demolished.

Check out the video taken before and during the process of demolishment.

Not sure whether it is related with high volume production of Mazda to fulfil the order worldwide.

Hate & Irritated by Vuvuzela Horns in World Cup Broadcasts, just filter the vuvuzela buzz!

You might be one of the victims of the Vuvuzela Horns. Since the offical don't plan to ban it, we just silent it ourself.

Folks over at Lifehacker have found that if you adjust your EQ at 465Hz and 235Hz, you can in fact filter out the buzz with great results. Ideally you'll reduce each frequency by at least 40dB (which got rid of the drone completely for us), but if your equipment can't quite adjust that low, just go as low as you can.

Check out the demo video clip - How to remove Vuvuzelas by Lifehacker!

Ken Block & Kimi Raikkonen meet at Rally Portugal and the result is tie!

Some say, in one universe there is only 1 champion. But there is also time, the results is tie!

In front of the Algarve Stadium, Block and Gelsomino lined up against Kimi Räikkönen and his co-driver Kaj Lindström for two laps of the 1km course. Off the line, Block took the jump and from that point until the last turn the two were neck and neck, swapping minor leads but eventually crossing the finish line at the exact same time (2:11:0). “What are the chances of that?” said Block immediately after the race. “But either way, I am stoked to have tied Kimi, afterall he does know a thing or two about driving on tarmac surfaces, plus I didn’t lose 100 Euros.”

Check out the video clip of the race.
