| Under 'National Energy Plan', one (1) clause mentioned:-
Exemption of import duty and sales tax on 100% import duty and 50% excise duty on new hybrid CBU cars, with engine capacity below 2,000 cc, be given to franchise importers. This exemption is given for a period of two years to prepare for the local assembly of such cars.
Do you think the franchise importers will fully reduce the price of the new hybrid CBU cars?
Is this a rebate to the franchise importers to get ready for the competition after 2 years? So sort of rebate to encourage investment on local assembly before tax increase back again?
Is this clause mainly benefiting 'Premier Hybrid Cars Sdn Bhd', who claims to be the the first hybrid distributor of hybrid cars in Malaysia (which is untrue)? e.g. Goverment reduce tax ; importer increase profits. Feedback and share your opinion! Anyway, I would like to advise people that hybrid powertrains are very complicated things. If you would consider one of those Hybrid Car, it would be a good idea to get them from principals who can competently back your warranty and maintenance. |
