Under 'National Energy Plan', one (1) clause mentioned:-
- Exemption of import duty and sales tax on 100% import duty and 50% excise duty on new hybrid CBU cars, with engine capacity below 2,000 cc, be given to franchise importers. This exemption is given for a period of two years to prepare for the local assembly of such cars.
- Do you think the franchise importers will fully reduce the price of the new hybrid CBU cars?
- Is this a rebate to the franchise importers to get ready for the competition after 2 years? So sort of rebate to encourage investment on local assembly before tax increase back again?
- Is this clause mainly benefiting 'Premier Hybrid Cars Sdn Bhd', who claims to be the the first hybrid distributor of hybrid cars in Malaysia (which is untrue)? e.g. Goverment reduce tax ; importer increase profits.

Anyway, I would like to advise people that hybrid powertrains are very complicated things. If you would consider one of those Hybrid Car, it would be a good idea to get them from principals who can competently back your warranty and maintenance.
